Facilitating Frozen Warehouses, KKP Hopes That The Welfare Of Cilacap Fishermen Can Rise

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is said to provide facilitation for the development of fishing corporations in Cilacap, Central Java through the support of a portable frozen warehouse, colded vehicles, and technical guidance.

PDSPKP Director General Budi Sulistiyo said the support was an effort to build an upstream-downstream fishery ecosystem as directed by the President some time ago.

"We provide sarpras support to strengthen the fishing corporation of the Mina Saroyo Village Unit Cooperative in Cilacap," he said in a written statement this weekend.

According to Budi, the assistance includes facilitating a portfolio frozen warehouse with a capacity of 10 tons to maintain the quality and stability of fish prices. He said the operation of the portable frozen warehouse also resulted in an average net income of Rp. 20 million/month and absorbed 6 direct workers.

Budi wants this support to increase the effectiveness of the fishing community of the Mino Saroyo Village Unit (KUD), Cilacap, Central Java.

In addition to this support, the Directorate General of PDSPKP also facilitated access to financing and business partnerships, as well as marketing. Through this success, Budi said that the KUD Mino Saroyo could be a pilot for the implementation of fishing corporations.

"Of course this is a pilot project that allows it to be implemented in other areas," he said.

Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono explained that the fishermen's corporate program was one of the national priorities or major projects in the 2020-2024 RPJMN.
