See The Great Potential Of AI In Indonesia, Kominfo Prepares Ethical Guidelines For Utilization Of AI
JAKARTA - In the midst of an increasing trend of artificial intelligence (AI), Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said he was preparing an Ethical Guideline for AI utilization in Indonesia.
He mentioned that the government has now developed a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2020-2045 in line with the increasing trend of using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In addition, through the Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation No. 3 of 2021, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics regulates the Standard Classification of AI-Based Programming Industry Fields.
"It is hoped that it can respond to various challenges in the use of AI, in order to be in line with the provisions of the ITE Law (Information and Electronic Transactions) and the PDP Law (Personal Data Protection)," Budi said in The 2nd MASTEL's 5G Summit - Acceleration of 5G Network and AI Towards Indonesia as Digital Economy Country, Thursday, September 21.
According to Budi, the regulation is necessary because of the advancement of AI technology, which can cause a form of disruption to new information, one of which is Deepfake AI technology.
In fact, he added, the potential for AI utilization is quite large. In fact, its utilization is projected to contribute 366 billion US dollars to Indonesia's GDP by 2030.

"Through deepfakes, users can manipulate images or videos resembling certain people to commit public deception or fraud," he said.
Budi said, in Indonesia, around 26.7 million workers have been helped by AI or 22.1% of the total workforce in 2021.
In order to optimize the readiness of the community in the use of AI technology, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics implements a Digital Literacy Program that includes child safety and the introduction of various AI features.
"In addition, training on various AI skills through the Digital Talent Scholarship program," explained Minister Budi Arie. The final target is for the use of digital technology which encourages effectiveness, productivity and added value.
