Thousands Of Families In Johar Baru Do Not Have A Bathroom, Heru Budi: Later We Will Create It
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono promised to build a communal toilet bathroom (MCK) for thousands of families (KK) in Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.
This is in response to a statement from the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD which states that 4,792 families do not yet have a bathroom.
"We will make the communal later," Heru told reporters, Thursday, September 14.
In a plenary meeting to convey the general views of the factions on the Raperda on the Amendment to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Budget for the 2023 fiscal year which will be held on Wednesday, September 13, the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD encourages the DKI Provincial Government to make improvements and improve the quality of sanitation in the community, especially dense settlements.
PKS stated that currently there are still many houses in densely populated settlements in Jakarta that do not have MCK which causes them to still defecate in their bodies or not in the MCK.
"In Johar Baru sub-district, for example there are still 4,792 families who do not have a MCK," said a member of the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Karyatin, at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building.
According to Karyatin, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government needs to make a budget for the manufacture of communal toilets for residents or in the form of communal septic tanks so that they can have a good sanitation system even on limited land at large costs.
If the APBD has not allocated the construction of a communal MCK, Karyatin suggested that the DKI Provincial Government seek alternative financing such as the contribution of company obligations to DKI BUMD.
"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can even seek support from BUMD and from corporate social responsibility (CSR) from BUMN and large private companies in Jakarta for the construction of a communal MCK or the communal septic tank so that the financing burden from the APBD is not too large," he explained.
