ODGJ Plays Fire In The House To Make Neighbors Panic, Residents: People Are Stressed Mah Is Free

JAKARTA - It really disturbed the actions of people with severe mental disorders (ODGJ) in the Cakung area, East Jakarta on Thursday, September 7. Due to the actions of the ODGJ perpetrator, an uninhabited old house was burned to the ground.

The incident occurred when the ODGJ was playing with fire in the old house of Jalan Pulo Bidadari Raya Blok A5, Number 15, RT 05/10, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta.

"The cause of the fire is suspected to be someone (ODGJ) playing with fire in an empty old house. Then the ODGJ left it," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, September 7.

It was later discovered that the old house belonged to Adi. The house has been uninhabited for a long time.

"The area burned was about 300 meters, the loss was estimated at IDR 50 million," he said.

The process of extinguishing the fire began at 10.15 WIB. After being carried out by 6 units of fire engines, the flames finally became extinguished at 11.00 WIB.

"There were no casualties due to the fire. 24 officers were deployed. Currently, the blackout situation has been completed," he said.

Meanwhile, from the testimony of one of the eyewitnesses to the incident, the perpetrator was an ODGJ who previously played with fire.

"He's a stressed person like him. Stressed people are free to burn empty houses, his name is also stressed," he said.

Meanwhile, another resident, Hartoyo, added that the perpetrator of ODGJ was a teenage boy.

"The child is not normal. He said there was a cherries tree, he entered. He wanted to burn a dry tree, just didn't know the consequences. The fire became big," he said.

"Only when the community went down, all the security came. According to information, the children had been secured by the authorities," he added.
