Coordinating Minister For Maritime Affairs: Indonesia's Economy Will Exceed Russia In 2025
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the Indonesian economy would surpass Russia in 2025. Where Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 1.45 trillion US dollars.
Luhut said this prediction refers to a study conducted by the Atlantic Council. That way, said Luhut, Indonesia will become the country with the largest capacity number 6 in the world.
"Today we have 1.45 trillion US dollars GDP. And also the Atlantic Council also released their studies, maybe by 2025, Indonesia could surpass the Russian economy," Luhut said at the 2023 ISF press conference, in Jakarta, Thursday, September 7.
"So we will be the country with the 6th largest economy," continued.
Luhut is also optimistic that in 2050 Indonesia will grow faster and is targeted to become the country with the fourth largest economic capacity in the world.

"From an economic perspective, once again I believe that in 2050 or earlier we can become the country with the 4th largest or 5th economy in the world," he explained.
Furthermore, Luhut said that this prediction can be achieved, one of which is downstreaming. With downstreaming, said Luhut, it can bring the Indonesian economy to grow strongly.
"The impact of downstream nickel or bauxite, copper, tin, seaweed, gas, can bring this country to a very, very strong country in the near future," he said.
