It Is Proven That The Bribery Of The Ministry Of Transportation's DJKA Officials Was Sentenced To Be Lighter Than The 4-Year Prison Demand
The Corruption Court (Tipikor) of Semarang, Central Java, sentenced the Director of PT Istana Putra Agung Dion Renato Sugiarto as a defendant in a bribery case against officials of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
The verdict read by the Chief Justice Gatot Sarwadi in the trial and the verdict was lighter than the prosecutor's demands for four years and two months. The defendant was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 200 million which if not paid would be replaced with imprisonment for five months.
"To declare that the defendant is found guilty of violating the first cumulative, first and third cumulative charges," said Gatot.
He explained that the defendant was found guilty of violating Article 5 Paragraph 1 letter a of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
Dion Renato was proven to have given bribes to obtain construction work and improve railway lines in Central Java, West Java, and South Sulawesi. The total bribes that the defendants had given to various parties for the work in the three provinces reached Rp37.9 billion.

The details of each of the bribes for the project at the Bandung Railway Engineering Center amounted to Rp. 2 billion, the Central Java Railway Engineering Center amounted to Rp. 28.9 billion, and the South Sulawesi Railway Management Center amounting to Rp. 7 billion.
In their consideration, the judge assessed that the defendant's actions did not support the Government's program in eradicating corruption. Based on this decision, the defendant Dion Renato Sugiarto immediately stated that he accepted, while the public prosecutor (JPU) expressed his thoughts.
