FIFA Officially Launches Indonesian U-17 World Cup Symbols And Mascot
JAKARTA The International Football Federation (FIFA) officially launched the symbol and mascot of the 2023 U-17 World Cup which will be held in Indonesia.
The launch was carried out on Friday, September 1, 2023. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 symbol was inspired by the colors of the Indonesian national flag, the greenish blue sea and its flowing currents through the archipelago.
"This launch provides a glimpse of fans and players around the world about the experience, color, diversity, and spirit of celebrating a tournament held in Indonesia which is now the heart of Southeast Asia," wrote FIFA.
Meanwhile, Bacuya (Badak Cula Cahaya) was chosen to be the mascot of this prestigious event. ThisTYak berculant refers to the name of the original Indonesian animal.
Bacuya is expected to play an important role in inviting the public to come to the stadium to see young footballers compete. The philosophy of Bacuya is that the young Javan rhino is very shy and quiet.
Despite this characteristic, his curiosity forced him to run steadfastly onto the field as if looking for something. The feel of green grass motivates him until he finds football.
Suddenly something extraordinary happened. The horns are lit with new colors. This moment is changing Bacuya.
Every time he plays football with someone, his horn will shine brighter.
"The energy that football gives to people is the same as the energy that illuminates Bacuya. Bacuya is a defender. He fights for the right of young people to have fun and express," wrote FIFA.
The grand junior level tournament, which will be attended by 24 countries, is planned to be held on November 10-2 December. A total of four stadiums will be used.
With the status of the host, Indonesia will automatically get a share to compete in the U-17 World Cup finals. Red and White will wait for potential opponents in the draw in Switzerland on September 15 nearest.
