Opportunities For Repatriation Of Victims Of Serious Human Rights Violations, Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Mahfud MD And Menkumham Yasonna Laoly Open The Door Again For Ex Mahid In The Czech Republic
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly visited the Czech Republic to provide repatriation opportunities for victims of past gross human rights violations. The victims, especially former Students of the Service Association (Mahid) were given convenience through priority visa services, residence permits, and re-entry permits for free.
To the former Mahid in the Czech Republic, the Minister of Law and Human Rights reaffirmed the priority services of former Mahid to obtain citizenship documents and immigration documents when he wanted to visit Indonesia, or even return to become an Indonesian citizen.
Of the 14 former Mahid in the Czech Republic, 13 of them have Czech citizenship while one more person has Indonesian citizenship. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights guarantees priority services if you want to return to Indonesia," Yasonna said in Prague, Monday, August 28 in a statement received by VOI.
Yasonna said the Ministry of Law and Human Rights had issued regulations that allowed 14 former Mahid in the Czech Republic to get visa services, residence permits, and re-entry permits for free.
"The victim of a gross human rights violation was given a zero rupiah tariff for immigration services," said Yasonna Laoly during his visit with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD.
For the Czech region, priority services for the former Mahid can be obtained through a request to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the Indonesian Embassy will continue the request until it gets a recommendation from the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
As of today, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has provided Immigration Service Priorities to 5 (five) ex-Mahid since the Kick Off of Non-Judicial Settlement of Past Serious Human Rights Violations in Pidie Aceh on 27 June 2023, namely to:1. Ing. Jaroni Soejomartono, in the form of a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) valid for 1 (one) year. 2. Prof. Sudaryanto Yanto Priyono, in the form of a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) valid for 1 (one) year.3. Sri Budiarti Tuncapati, in the form of a Visit Visa of Several Traveling Rivers (Multiple Visa) with a validity period of 5 (five) years.4. Wahjuni Kansilova, in the form of a Visit Visa of Several Travel Rivers (Multiple Visa) with a validity period of 5 (five) years.5. Siswantono Sarodjo, in the form of a Visit Visa Several Times Travel (multiples Visa) with a validity period of 5 (five) years.
Overall, based on data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the total number of ex Mahid still exists is 139 people. 138 are spread across 10 European countries and 1 in Asian countries. The Netherlands is the country with the most former Mahid (67 people), followed by the Czechs (14 people). In Russia, there is still 1 former Mahid, but there are 38 former Mahid descendants in the bear country. Meanwhile, the only non-European country where ex Mahid lives is Syria as many as 1 person.
One of the former Mahid is currently suffering from serious illness. The person concerned hopes to be buried in Indonesia if he dies later.
Yasonna's visit to the Czech Republic was an attempt by the government to follow up on the non-judicial resolution of gross human rights. The government's representative was led by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD together with the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador in the Czech Republic, Secretary General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Also present at the meeting were representatives of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and the Non-Judicial Settlement Team for Past Serious Human Rights Violations (PPHAM).
