JAKARTA - The Papuan Regional Police (Polda) has proposed an increase in the number of personnel to the National Police Headquarters in the context of preparing for the security of the General Election (Pemilu) and the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Prabowo, confirmed the addition of the number of personnel. "Yes, it is true (the addition of personnel) in the context of securing the election," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.
Kombes Benny did not specify the number of additional personnel, because currently it is still in the process of proposing.
"The number is still under proposal. I can't tell you yet," he said.

These additional personnel, he said, would be placed in areas that were noted by the Papuan Police as prone to election conflicts. "There is a thickening of troops," said Benny.
Additional personnel from the National Police Headquarters are placed in vulnerable areas to help thicken existing personnel.
In addition to preparing personnel, he said, the Papuan Police also made preparations for elections by providing socialization to the public.
