Police Arrest Members Of The Empty House Specialist Thief Gang At Puri Anjasmoro Semarang

SEMARANG - Polrestabes Semarang, Central Java, revealed a theft case committed by a gang of thieves who specialize in targeting empty houses.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Semarang Polrestabes AKBP Donny Lumbantoruan said that one of the members of the gang that took action at Puri Anjasmoro Housing Semarang on July 15, 2023, was arrested along with various stolen evidence.

"Suspect N (37), a resident of Indralaya, Palembang, South Sumatra, was arrested with various stolen goods and a car as a means when the gang took action," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 14.

According to him, the other three members of the gang, all of whom came from Palembang, are still under development.

Donny explained that the gang randomly chose the victims.

Of the four members of the gang, suspect N is tasked with pressing the door of the house bell which will be his target to ensure the house is empty

"If the target house is confirmed to be empty, the perpetrators will immediately enter the house," he said.

At the last location, Donny continued, this gang took various types of watches and luxury bags, as well as a number of car and motorcycle BPKBs.

The total loss due to the theft event reached Rp700 million

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
