JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi revealed that slot gambling has cost the public up to IDR 27 trillion per year, with the targeted victims being low-income people and even targeting children.
"According to the reports and data we got, one application, whose name is Higgs Domino Island, the circulation of money can reach IDR 2.2 trillion per month. This means that a year can reach around IDR 27 trillion. That's only from one site where the victims are small communities and even children too. So the people are very disadvantaged," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 8.
Reflecting on this, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is currently focusing on preventing and eradicating websites to applications containing slot gambling content so that the number of victims can be reduced.
Budi revealed that during his duties as Minister of Communication and Information in the last three weeks, it was noted that the Ministry of Communication and Information had closed access to 42,622 content and slot gambling applications in cyberspace.
The Ministry of Communication and Information also plans to make coordination between institutions the key to narrowing the space for movement from application developers and gambling websites.
"From law enforcement officials carry out law enforcement actions, then from the banking sector block accounts (owned by the developer of the judionline service). This is all comprehensive work. So we are surrounded all of them," said Budi.
