2 Mutilation Suspects In Sleman Jalani 49 Reconstruction Scenes
YOGYAKARTA - Suspect W (29), a resident of Magelang Regency, Central Java and RD (38) a resident of DKI Jakarta, allegedly the perpetrator of the murder and mutilation of a student at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region underwent 49 scenes during the reconstruction of the case.
The reconstruction series was held at the boarding house of one of the suspects in the Triharjo area, Sleman Regency, DIY, Tuesday, August 8.
"We include friends from the prosecutor's office, Inafis, and forensic medicine. There are around 49 scenes," said Director of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Reskrimum) of the Yogyakarta Police, Kombes FX Endriadi.
According to Endriadi, the reconstruction or reconstruction that took place since 10:00 WIB was used to complete the filing and for prosecution purposes.
"The reconstruction function tells the story of the incident. But to prove how, then let the death be at trial," he said.
The reconstruction process of the mutilation case was originally scheduled to take place in three locations, namely the location of the murder, the location of the disposal of organs, and the burial of the victim's head.
"But because of the situation we are carrying out here," said Endriadi.
According to him, the victim with the initials R, who is known to be a resident of Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, was killed and mutilated by two suspected perpetrators at the boarding house.
However, Endriadi was reluctant to explain the details of the acts of violence committed by the alleged perpetrator against the victim.
"The victim died as a result of violence. This is an incident of murder with acts of violence, extortion, strangulation. We investigators carry out murder investigations, no other matter," he said.
The Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Nugroho Arianto, added that the reconstruction process which lasted until 12.30 WIB was attended by the Jatanras investigation team and the DIY Police Ditreskrimum Identification Team, Sleman Police personnel, DIY Prosecutor's Office, Sleman Kejari, suspect legal advisers, forensic doctors and the psychological team.
"This reconstruction was carried out to provide an overview of the occurrence of a criminal act by demonstrating again and to test the suitability of the testimony of witnesses or suspects," said Nugroho.
Previously, the disclosure of the mutilation case began with a report from the Sleman Police regarding the discovery of several pieces of human bodies suspected of being victims of mutilation in the Bedog River, Kelor Hamlet, Bangunkerto, Turi District, Sleman, on July 12, 2023, at 19.30 WIB.
The Yogyakarta Regional Police then conducted an in-depth investigation of the body's findings at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Yogyakarta, so that the identity of the victim was known to be a man with the initials R Yanh, a resident of Pangkalpinang.
Based on the results of the victim's DNA test, the Yogyakarta Regional Police confirmed that R was an UMY student who had previously been reported missing since July 11, 2023.
