Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office Receives IDR 75 Million From Witness In Hajj Dormitory Corruption Case
BENGKULU - The Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) received Rp75 million which was handed over by one of the witnesses in the corruption case of the Hajj dormitory project with a budget of 2020-2021.
"The Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office confiscated Rp75 million in connection with the Hajj dormitory case and the money came from a witness who voluntarily returned the money for the unlawful act committed by the witness," said Head of the Special Crime Investigation Section (Pidsus) of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office, Danang Prasetyo, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.
He said the money was handed over to the temporary holding account which was then used as evidence in the corruption case.
In this case, his party has examined witnesses against a number of people such as the former Head of the Regional Office of the Bengkulu Ministry of Religion, namely ZH, a former commitment-making official (PPK), a former expenditure treasurer, a number of employees at the Bengkulu Provincial Ministry of Religion Regional Office and parties who have links in the case.
Previously, the Bengkulu Special Prosecutor's Office Investigation Team determined the Director of PT Bahana Krida Nusantara (BKN), namely SU as a suspect in the alleged corruption of the revitalization and development project of the Bengkulu Hajj Dormitory for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
"It is true that the Bengkulu Attorney General's Office has determined the President Director of PT Bahana Krida Nusantara with the initials SU as always a contractor implementing activities as a suspect in alleged corruption in the revitalization of Bengkulu Hajj dormitories in 2020," said Danang.

Currently, suspect SU is in the Bengkulu Police Headquarters Detention Center for detention and the suspect has good faith by entrusting money to the investigative team and this will certainly be a consideration during the prosecution because the deposit of money does not automatically erase the crime.
In addition, the suspect has entrusted Rp450 million to the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office, the money is a difference in the realization of physical development before the contractor breaks the contract with the money that has been paid.
For temporary estimation, explained Danang, the state losses related to the corruption case of the Hajj hostel project in 2020 reached Rp1.7 billion.
It is known, in 2020 the Ministry of Religion through the Bengkulu Provincial Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion distributed Rp38 billion for revitalization and developer of Bengkulu Hajj dormitories.
