Chelsea Vs Fulham 2-0, Mauricio Pocchetino Gets First Trophy With The Blues
JAKARTA - Chelsea won the Premier League Summer Series after beating Fulham on Sunday, July 30. This is Mauricio Pochettino's first trophy to recently serve as team manager this season.
Two Chelsea goals were scored by Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkuku. This victory ensured that the West London team finished at the top of the Premier League Summer Series standings which took place in the United States.
Thiago Silva scored the opener after taking advantage of Ben Chilwell's corner kick in the 20th minute. Four minutes before the break, Nkuku doubled Chelsea's lead.
Nkuku scored his third goal in four pre-season games for Chelsea in the summer of 2023/2024. The 25-year-old previously scored against Wrexham and Brighton and Hove Albion during the United States tour.
Poch displayed another experimental side against Cottagers. He played with two 19-year-olds, Gabriel Slonina in goal and Mason Burstow in front.
Meanwhile, the Fulham squad once again without flagship striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Whereas before the match, manager Marco Silva confirmed that the player had returned to full training in America.
Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez made their debuts in the second half.
Chelsea are now traveling to Chicago for their last match in the US. The match was a friendly match against Borussia Dortmund which will be held on Wednesday, August 2.
