NTB Projo Supports Prabowo-Mahfud Duet In The 2024 Presidential Election

The Regional Conference of the DPD Projo West Nusa Tenggara decided to support and recommend the Prabowo Subianto and Mahfud MD as candidates for president and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election.

"According to the results of the conference, we recommend Prabowo Subianto - Mahfud MD as a candidate for president and vice presidential candidate in 2024," said Chairman of the DPD Projo West Nusa Tenggara Imam Sofian accompanied by DPC Projo administrators throughout NTB in Mataram City as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 15.

He said the decision to support Prabowo-Mahfudini was in line with the results of the NTB People's Consultative Assembly on March 18, 2023 in Mataram City. At that time, Prabowo was superior in defeating other figures.

"Our debate is not far from the results of the Musra. Indeed, during the Musra there were three names, namely Prabowo, Ganjar and Airlangga for presidential candidates. For vice presidential candidates Mahfud MD, Moeldoko, and Sandiaga Uno," explained Imam Sofian.

According to him, there are a number of reasons why Projo NTB prefers to reduce the names of Prabowo Subianto and Mahfud MD. They assessed that Prabowo Subianto was able to continue President Jokowi's programs.

Prabowo is also said to be able to answer global and national challenges in the future because Indonesia in the future needs a leader who is firm and able to continue President Jokowi's program.

Especially in the midst of global uncertainty, demographic bonuses, economic leaps, and the sustainability of President Jokowi's programs are challenges that must be answered from 2024 to 2029.

"With his experience and courage, Pak Prabowo views that we are able to work optimally to answer the challenges ahead," he said.

As for Mahfud MD, they considered the figure of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to be the most appropriate to accompany Prabowo because his clean figure and consistent anti-corruption breakthrough would be in line with Prabowo's experience and courage.

However, Imam did not deny that in the Projo NTB Conference there were many dynamics, especially regarding the names proposed as candidates for president and vice president.

From the various dynamics of the discussion, two pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates emerged, namely Prabowo Subianto-Mahfud MD and Prabowo Subianto-Airlangga Hartarto.

However, from the two pairs supported by Projo NTB and brought during the Projo National Working Meeting in Jakarta, Prabowo Subianto-Mahfud MD.

"So we (Projo NTB, ed) propose later to the center of Prabowo Subianto and Mahfud MD," he said.

Regarding the choice for Prabowo Subianto because in the previous two elections the Gerindra Party chairman always won in NTB, Imam stated that the reason was not that, but because Prabowo Subianto was considered capable of continuing President Jokowi's program.

"Projo ini ormas, tentu yang mendaftarkan itu ranah parpol. Tetapi kalau nanti Prabowo ditetapkan dalam Rakernas Projo, kita siap memenangkan," tegasnya.

"This can be realized in 2024 to win Prabowo if the Projo National Working Meeting is determined. We mass organizations of course register is the domain of political parties. Please political parties determine their respective candidates and we are upright with Jokowi's orders," he added.

Imam said that the NTB Projo was always upright with Jokowi's orders.

"We are upright with Jokowi. What is in the regions will definitely be discussed with the Projo DPP and what is done in the regions is nothing different from what is in the DPP," he said.
