Police Examine 6 Unram Security Units Related To Student Demonstrators Persecution Case
The Mataram City Police, West Nusa Tenggara, examined six officers from the security unit (satpam) of Mataram University related to reports of alleged mistreatment of demonstrators from students which took place on June 20 in front of the rectorate building.
"Lastly, we examined four. So, the total that has been examined is six people. They are all from the security guard," said Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim Kompol I Made Yogi Purusa Utama, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.
Of the six security guards, he continued, one of them was the head of the security guard.
Yogi said the head of the security guard underwent an examination related to procedures for handling demonstrations on campus.
"Who was in charge of that day, how many people, how many assignments around it were what we asked," he said.
He said that in handling this case, around 170 people were included in the examination agenda. In this week alone, he continued, there will be two other security guards on the agenda.
"So, we will confront the statements of each witness again to see the alleged abuse," he said.
In addition to collecting witness testimony, the police in this case are also still waiting for the results of the post-mortem of the victim from the Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital. The examination of the post-mortem results will be scheduled with a request for information from the hospital.
Video evidence showing the actions of security guards and Unram officers hitting one of the students also became an examination material.
"We will also synchronize the video evidence with the statements of the witnesses," he said.

The alleged abuse in student demonstrations was recorded in several videos circulating on social media.
One of them, in a 25-second video, was recorded by a number of security guards forcibly securing one of the participants in the demonstration.
When the officers dragged the student into the Unram Rectorate Building, it was seen that a man wearing a blue batik pattern secretly from behind hit him with a hard object that made the victim fall.
The students held a demonstration in front of the Unram Rectorate Building by bringing a number of demands, one of which questioned the reason why the campus set the registration fee for new students for the independent route of Rp. 500 thousand.
