Indonesia's Proposal On Immigration Governance Reported Positive ASEAN+3
JAKARTA - Indonesia's proposal at the ASEAN+3 High Level Forum regarding Immigration Governance received a positive response from delegates from other countries.
In a forum held in Beijing, China, on June 26-28, the Director of Immigration Cooperation of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Heru Tjondro proposed strengthening cooperation with domestic and foreign partners as well as international organizations.
"This cooperation is absolutely necessary because no single country can work alone in overcoming problems and challenges related to immigration issues," said the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Raden Fitri Saptaji, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.
According to him, in the ASEAN Plus Three meeting, Indonesia proposed strengthening cooperation in exchanging information and training in the field of immigration.
"We also present several challenges in the field of immigration," said Fitri, who accompanied Heru Tjondro as chairman of the Indonesian delegation at the forum.
Some of these threats and challenges are conflicts in certain areas that cause people to move to other countries, foreign terrorists, illegal human movement through the sea, human smuggling, human trafficking, human organ trafficking, and cross-state crime.
In the forum attended by delegates from ASEAN member countries plus China, Japan, and South Korea, the Indonesian delegation delivered several immigration policies.
Among the policies is the application of arrival visas (VoA) for 92 countries, visa-free for nine ASEAN and Timor Leste member countries, second home visa, and golden visa.
"This policy can increase economic growth, investment, trade and business," said Fitri.
