Wimbledon 2023: Carlos Alcaraz And Novak Djokovic Place The Top Two Leadings
JAKARTA - Tournament organizer Wimbledon announced that the 2023 edition of the grass field Grand Slam will be led by Carlos Alcaraz who occupies the first seed and Novak Djokovic who is the second seed.
From 2002-2019, Wimbledon used a leading system that took into account the success of players on the grass court. However, starting from the 2021 edition (no tournaments in 2020), the organizers returned to using the ATP Ranking.
Quoted from the official ATP website reported by Antara, Thursday, Alcaraz will be the top seed in the major tournament for the second time in a row, after leading at Roland Garros, where he lost in the semifinals to Djokovic.
Serbia's Djokovic in the next two weeks will try to match Roger Federer's record by winning his eighth Wimbledon title.
Meanwhile, completing the top eight seeds was Daniil Medvedev's third seed, Casper Ruud's fourth seed, fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, sixth seed Holger Rune, seventh seed Andrey Rublev, and eighth seed Jannik Sinner.
Australian Nick Kyrgios, who reached the Wimbledon final last year, ranks 33rd in the ATP rankings this week.
However, due to the resignation of Karen Khachanov and Pablo Carreno Busta who were originally seeded, Kyrgios became the 31st seed.
The last seeded tennis player is 32nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. If there are players among the seedes who step down before Friday's draw, Ben Shelton will occupy the seed.
