During January-April 2023, BPBD West Lampung Recorded 27 Disasters

LAMPUNG BARAT - Counting from January 1 to April 29, 2023, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Lampung Regency has recorded 27 disasters.

The head of the West Lampung BPBD, Padang Priyo Utomo when contacted, from South Lampung, Saturday, said that the natural disasters that often occur in West Lampung Regency are fallen trees, floods, landslides and extreme weather.

"The disasters that often occur in West Lampung are fallen trees and landslides, and several natural disasters have occurred, both small to medium scale and we have done quick response efforts," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, June 24.

He said that natural disasters that often occur are natural disasters, such as extreme weather, where at the end of April his party had evacuated dozens of climbers of Mount Seminung who were struck by lightning.

In tackling natural disasters that occur, his party has prepared tactical units in each sub-district from Pusdalops, a rapid reaction team (TRC), SAR teams and task forces in each pekon (village) to sub-district.

"To deal with 2023, we cannot predict the weather, but in anticipation we will see from the weather forecasts officially released by the BMKG, because from the beginning of last year January, February to April Lampung Province was hit by extreme weather," he said.

He added that there are a number of areas in West Lampung that are prone to landslides.

"Like in Pekon (Village), the Boat Shop in Balik Bukit District, then Sukau District on the border with South Oku, Belalau District, Batu Ketulis District and Sekincau District," he said.

The five sub-districts are locations prone to disasters because the intensity of rain is quite high and also surrounded by hilly areas on each side of the road that passes through the area.

For this, he also appealed to the public to remain vigilant, especially when doing activities outside, and to continue to follow information from sources of official disaster information or BMKG.
