6 Money Changer Entrepreneurs In Batam Arrested, Victims Lose Hundreds Of Millions Of SGD Currency
The Barelang Police Team (Batam, Rempang and Galang) arrested six robbers of money exchange entrepreneurs (money changers) whose value reaches hundreds of millions of rupiah in Batam, Riau Islands.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police, Kompol Budi Hartono, said the six robbers arrested had the initials AH, TJ, AJ, RF, RD, and HL.
"Yes, we made arrests yesterday, Friday (16/6). We arrested six people," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 17.
The arrests of the six robbers, he said, were carried out in different locations in Batam City.
In the action, several robbers disguised themselves as police officers by wearing police attributes, following, and stopping the victim's car. Then the perpetrator threatened and held the victim at gunpoint using a "soft gun".
"From the examination, it turned out that there was a threat using an airsoft gun," the evidence was thrown by the perpetrator into Dam Sei Ladi," he said.
After the arrest, Budi said that the suspects (robbers) had different roles. One person as the mastermind of the perpetrator, one person as the information provider of the victim's money transaction, one person following, supervising the victim, and three people as the executor.
Currently, he said, his party is still investigating the suspects at the Barelang Police. For the money taken, he said, amounted to hundreds of millions of rupiah in Singapore dollars.
