PPP Officially Announces Sandiaga Uno PPP Cadre At Rapimnas VI

JAKARTA - Acting (Plt) General Chairperson of PPP Muhammad Mardiono announced the joining of Sandiaga Uno as a PPP cadre. The announcement took place at the PPP VI National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) in Jakarta, Friday, June 16.

"We have a new member, his name is Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia," said Mardiono when giving a speech at the opening of the PPP Rapimnas VI in Jakarta, Friday, June 16 evening, which was confiscated by Antara.

Mardiono said PPP needed national political figures to strengthen the ranks of the party's struggle.

"Ahlan wa sahlan for Sandiaga Salahudin Uno," he said.

In addition, Mardiono also revealed that a number of former generals and law enforcement officials had joined PPP.

Previously, Sandiaga Uno officially became a member of PPP on Wednesday, June 14. This is evidenced by the submission of a membership card (KTA) along with a PPP jacket from Muhamad Mardiono to Sandiaga Uno at the PPP DPP Office, Central Jakarta.

The PPP DPP held a Rapimnas in Jakarta, on June 16-17, 2023. A number of issues were discussed, including giving assignments and positions to Sandiaga Uno and the discourse on determining Sandiaga as a candidate for vice president who was promoted by PPP.

To note, registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It is also possible that the candidate pairs can be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
