20 Crew Members Of The Burnt Victim KM Maju Setia 22 Returned To Cilacap
A total of 20 crew members (ABK) KM Maju Setia 22 who caught fire in the waters of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Indian Ocean were evacuated to Sendang Biru Port, Malang, East Java, and returned to Cilacap, Central Java.
The Coordinator of the Surabaya Basarnas Operations Team, Ainul Makhdi, said that 20 crew members of KM Maju Setia 22 were repatriated to Cilacap, by land at 08.05 WIB.
Ainul explained that the evacuation of KM Maju Setia 22 crew members to Sendang Biru Port was carried out in stages. Five crew members were evacuated by the Nabila 07 fishing boat and arrived in Malang Regency at around 04.00 WIB.
All crew members who were evacuated at Sendang Biru Port, he said, were safe and only complained about dizziness. Meanwhile, the other seven crew members who had previously remained at KM Maju Setia 22, had also headed to Cilacap with the burning ship.
The Maju Setia 22 ship was pulled with KM Maju Setia 07. Although KM Maju Setia 22 experienced a fire, it could still be pulled using another ship to go to Cilacap. KM Maju Setia 22, returned to Cilacap at a speed of 3.8 knots.
"The ship was pulled using a towing with KM Maju Setia 07 from the fire point to Cilacap, at approximately 08.30 WIB. The radius from the fire point to Cilacap, as far as 128 Nautical Mile (NM)," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15.
Previously, 15 crew members of KM Maju Setia 22 who caught fire on Tuesday (13/6) were evacuated to the Sendang Biru Port area, Malang Regency, East Java, of the 27 people who were in the fishing boat manifest. The ABK evacuation process has been carried out since Tuesday (13/6) in stages.

In the first phase, seven crew members arrived at Sendang Biru Port on Wednesday (14/6) at around 05.30 WIB using KM Abimanyu 01. Then, eight other crew members were evacuated using KM Tunggal Jaya 03, and arrived at 06.58 WIB.
The next stage, there were five crew members who used KM Nabila 07 and arrived at 04.00 WIB. While the remaining seven crew members were still on the ship that had an incident and were waiting for the aid ship to be pulled to a safer place.
The incident was known by the Surabaya Basarnas after receiving a report from SAR Cilacap regarding the fire at KM Maju Setia who was in the position of South Latitude (LS) 09 deg30'00' East Longitude (BT) 112 deg.12'00".
The fishing boat KM Maju Setia departed from Cilacap waters on June 3, 2023 and was reported to have experienced a fire in the waters of the Indian Ocean on June 13, 2023 at 05.30 WIB.
