Becoming The First Oil And Gas Field To Be Operated Abroad, Pertamina Introduces MLN Algeria
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) introduced Menzel Ledjmet Nord (MLN) Oil Field Algeria, an oil and gas field in Algeria which since May 2014 has been fully operated by Pertamina.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said, in her efforts to meet national energy security, Pertamina is not only looking for energy sources in the country, but also actively looking for opportunities in international oil and gas fields.
"This is Pertamina's effort to meet national energy security, not only from domestic, but we are also looking for opportunities abroad," said Nicke, quoted on Thursday, June 15.
Nicke also appreciated MLN's performance, which since operating until now has managed to maintain zero fatality and zero lost time incident with a total man hours of more than 23 million hours.
"This oil and gas field is certainly full of challenges, therefore I encourage to continue to innovate through initiatives to increase production so that it is hoped that later it can increase investment and boost MLN's performance," said Nicke.
Menzel Ledjmet Nord (MLN) Oil Field is located in the Sahara Desert, precisely around 1,000 Km in the southeast of Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
Having an oil capacity of 35,000 BOPD, the average MLN oil production from January to May 2023 reached 14,875 BOPD. In addition, in its efforts to meet the needs of new and renewable energy, until now MLN has 58 solar panels that produce 1,141 KWH per year and can reduce emissions of 7,507 tons of CO2 equivalence per year.

Operated by Pertamina Algeria EP (PAEP) as a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP) has been managing the full MLN Oil Field operation since 2014 with a total of 65 percent of the participant participating.
