Alluding To Unsatisfactory Results During Race To Olympic 2024, Apriyani Rahayu Is Heartened While Talking About Responsibility
JAKARTA - The women's doubles badminton player, Apriyani Rahayu, admitted that she had to be heartened regarding the unsatisfactory results of the Southeast Asian tour. Even though that moment became an event to collect points for the 2024 Olympics or Race to Olympic in Paris.
Together with Siti Fadia Rahmadanti, Apriyani failed to break into the final at the Malaysia Masters, Thailand Open and Singapore Open. Even though it was bitter, Apriyani admitted that she had to accept it.
"We (Me and Fadia) are just starting (Race to Olympic) this year. But indeed we have to raise the day because there is no good Asian tour result," said Apriyani during a press conference at Istora Senayan after the match on Wednesday, June 14.
This result made Apriyani feel pressured a little bit, she then discussed the previous moment when she was still paired with Greysia Polii. Apri said that when they were with Polii they did not really rely on points towards Race to the Olympics, so the game felt more relaxed.
"At the same time, Greysia Polii didn't think about the race to the Olympics, so we played loose because we didn't focus on it," he said.
When Polii decided to retire Apriyani then paired up with Siti Fadia, her status then changed to a senior who had to guide Fadia. This moment was recognized by Apriyani as a problem for herself, because the 25-year-old badminton player felt he was responsible for the best appearance of the women's doubles.
"Now I'm a senior, so I'm aware that there is a big responsibility. I have to bring myself and Fadia,"
"The problem is I also make it (Race to Olympic) an excessive responsibility, that's what makes unconsciously a burden for me," said Apriyani.
Had felt tied to that feeling, but Apriyani said she had tried to let her go to appear more relaxed after the Singapore Open.
"After the Singapore Open, I tried to release it so I could escape, desperately chase the champion and don't think about Race to Olympic," he explained.
Apriyani admitted that the effort was quite successful in making him appear more loose. In the future, Apriyani and Fadia will try to perform optimally with a good mindset.
This seriousness was then shown by Apriyani/Fadia with quite good results at the Indonesia Open 2023. Appearing in front of his own supporters, Apri/Fadia qualified for the round of 16 after winning over Linda Efler/Isabel Lohau in two straight games with a score of 26-24 and 21-15.
