Residents Of Used Goods In Cakung Hysterically Burned Their House Due To Waste Burning

JAKARTA - A 150-meter used goods stall and a residential house on Jalan Rawa Sumur Barat, RT 05/09, industrial area, Cakung District, East Jakarta were burned down on Monday, June 5, afternoon.

Not only that, but the flames also crushed a pickup car at the location. Thick black smoke soared high into the air when it scorched the stalls and residents' houses.

Meanwhile, the residents could not hold back their tears when they saw that their buildings had been engulfed in flames. Meanwhile, firefighters who arrived at the location immediately tried to extinguish the fire.

"The object caught fire, 1 house and stall and 1 pick-up car with the number B 9502 TUB. The loss was estimated at Rp. 300 million," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, to reporters, Monday, June 5.

Within 30 minutes, the fire was extinguished. Officers also managed to evacuate 3 families with 11 souls.

"The cause of the fire is suspected to be due to the burning of garbage left behind. The occupants did not know that there was a fire, when the occupants came out the fire had grown," he said.

Blowing strong winds made the fire grab into the pick-up car and building. Quickly, the fire scorched the entire building.

"The fire was gradually extinguished at 15.30 WIB after being watered by 14 units. The extinguishing process was carried out by 70 personnel. There were no casualties or injuries, we managed to extinguish the fire," he said.
