Fire Trigger Battery, Jaguar Recalls I-Face SUV
JAKARTA - An automotive manufacturer from England, Jaguar announced a recall on the electric SUV model, I-Pace.
Jaguar noted that 6,400 I-Face units were affected by the recall because they had a potential risk of fire in the battery.
Reported by the Hindustan Times, Saturday, June 3, the battery in the SUV could catch fire due to the error of the battery energy control module. It is known that the high-voltage battery energy control module on the I-Face can trigger a significant temperature increase.
There have been eight cases recorded caused by the battery problem in the United States. Luckily, there were no reports of injuries or casualties.
Later, the manufacturer will recall 6,367 units of Jaguar I-Pace and technicians will replace the battery energy control module.
In addition, Jaguar will also embed a software system that will monitor battery energy modules on cars. And the manufacturer will provide software or replace battery modules for free.
The affected car is Jaguar I-Face produced from 2019 to 2023. The manufacturer will instruct I-Face users to immediately take their cars to the official dealers for further inspection.
