Busy Preparation For DKI Anniversary, Work Hour Settings Plan In Jakarta Delayed
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party canceled holding a follow-up focus group discussion (FGD) with stakeholders to discuss plans to regulate working hours in Jakarta.
The regulation of working hours is based on the government's efforts to unravel congestion. Previously, this FGD had been carried out in early November 2022.
Syafrin said, initially the second FGD would be held on 17 May. However, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently busy preparing for the celebration of the 496th Anniversary of DKI. Thus, the formulation of the policy of distributing working hours is delayed.
"Yesterday's FGD canceled because there were activities. So, the FGD was pushed back to June 28. We got the place in June because until 22 we are preparing for the Jakarta Anniversary," said Syafrin at DKI City Hall, Thursday, May 25.
In the FGD later, the DKI Provincial Government will again ask for input from various stakeholders, from employers, workers, to office building managers on the analysis and mechanism of working hours that have previously been formulated.
The plan is for a two-time division to enter the office, namely 08.00 and 10.00 WIB. The hope is that this division of working hours can break down the highest level of congestion which usually occurs at 07.00 WIB.
"In our analysis, the peak of the morning occurred at 7 o'clock because everyone tried to arrive before 8 o'clock at work. So, once there is a distribution of 2 shifts, the peak hours will be distributed from 7 o'clock to 8 and 9. So, traffic density will decrease," said Syafrin.
"We will discuss the implementation at the time of the FGD. Later we will also invite academics, practitioners, so we will agree on what kind of implementation there. We will accommodate the proposal later, we will execute it together," he continued.
Previously, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, invited shopping centers to offices to discuss effective working hours arrangements to overcome congestion problems in DKI Jakarta.
"We talk to the private sector, the central government, offices around Thamrin, we chat. We also talk to the building associations, malls," Heru said on Friday, May 19.
Heru explained that his party already has the concept of employee entry hours which can be divided into two sessions, namely 08.00 WIB and 10.00 WIB.
"The entry of each building must be half, at 8.00 WIB with 10.00 WIB," continued Heru.

According to Heru, the distribution of the employee's entry hours can make it easier for employees to take their children to school first.
"It (the employees) came from the house at 6.00 WIB and the school children first, at 7.00 WIB he (goed) to the office at 8.00 WIB," said Heru.
