Vice President Ma'ruf Invites Presidential Candidates To Lirik NU Cadres To Become Vice Presidential Candidates
JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin invites presidential candidates to elect vice presidential candidates from the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) circles.
"I think there are many NU cadres who can be chosen, that's why I invite them to be chosen," said the Vice President in Nusa Dua, Bali on Tuesday, May 23, quoted by Antara.
Ma'ruf is known to have served as Rais' Aam NU 10th in 2015-2018 before he became Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia accompanying President Joko Widodo.
"I did not present 1, 2 names or names A, B, C but which ones felt suitable, felt worthy of the existing figures. God willing, they are all good and can. Yes, the proof is that I am the vice president, right," said the vice president.
The vice president only hopes that there will be good figures from NU who can be chosen as vice presidential candidates.
"But I didn't say A, B, C, D, so I wouldn't affect it. The criteria are good NU, they already have criteria A, B, C, D, please choose," said the vice president.
He also only said that he would support NU cadres chosen by the presidential candidates.
Currently, there are three names of presidential candidates sticking out to take part in the 2024 presidential election. The first is the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, which is carried by PDIP and PPP.
Furthermore, former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was declared a presidential candidate by the Nasdem Party, Demokat Party and PKS.
Finally, the Minister of Defense and General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, was promoted by his own party.

As is known, the registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.
Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.
Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
