Revitalization Of Kesawan Medan Old Town Area Reaches 54.83 Percent
The revitalization work of the old town of Kesawan, Medan City, carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the implementing contractor PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has now reached 54.83 percent.
The work on the construction of infrastructure for the old town of Kesawan is targeted for completion in November 2023, so that the area filled with many historical buildings becomes heritage tourism as well as encouraging economic developments as desired by Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution.
"The progress of the work carried out from July 8, 2022, to May 14, 2023 has reached 54.830 percent. The work carried out includes the revitalization of drainage channels, utility routes, the corridor of Jalan Balai Kota-Jalan Bukit Barisan-Jalan Pulau Pinang, the corridor of Jalan Ahmad Yani, the Jalan Perniaga-Jalan Kereta Api area and the Jalan Masjid-Pasar Hindu area," said Head of the North Sumatra Residential Infrastructure Center Syafriel Tansier in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.
The realization of the progress of the construction of infrastructure for settlements in the old town of Kesawan, which has been carried out until May 14, 2023, is 54.83 percent, even though the target is 53.884 percent.
"This means that there is a divide of 0.946 percent," said Nurasyiah YS, as the Commitment Making Officer for the Development of Settlement Areas.
Nurasyiah detailed the progress of physical development work on Jalan Ahmad Yani 69.81 percent, Jalan Ahmad Yani VII-Gedung Warenhuis 70.42 percent, Jalan Perdana 68.95 percent, Jalan Balai Kota 51.30 percent, Jalan Pulau Pinang 56.39 percent and Jalan Perniaga 72.02 percent.
This month, explained Nurasyiah, the work is focused on connecting the drainage crossing work of Jalan Balai Kota to Jalan Pulau Pinang using a box culvert measuring 1.5 m x 1.5 m.

In addition, the revitalization activities of the old town of Kesawan also collaborated on work with the Medan City Government and each provider related to cooperation efforts and smooth development in handling drainage channels and neatly handling areas without cables.
According to Poppy Pradianti Hastuti as Head of the North Sumatra Region II PKP Work Unit, so far there have been no obstacles encountered in the development of residential infrastructure in the old town of Kesawan.
"We are trying to complete the work according to the target, namely November 2023. In fact, if possible in October 2023, it will be as desired by the Mayor," said Poppy.
