Doors Can Open On Their Own While Driving, Volkswagen Withdraw ID.4

JAKARTA - Volkswagen were forced to recall their model, ID.4 in the United States because the car doors could open suddenly while traveling at low speed.

Reporting from InsideEV, Wednesday, May 10, the United States Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), said the affected vehicles were assembled between December 2020 and December 2022 in Zwickau, Germany.

The manufacturer has withdrawn 35,325 units of VW ID.4 units. Volkswagen suspects the door handle on the coup does not meet the factory's specifications for protection against water entry.

The entry of this water can cause a malfunction on the assembled board on the circuit board, then when the vehicle is exposed to a high lateral force at speeds below 15 km/hour the door can be opened suddenly.

Opening the door suddenly can cause a lot of potential accidents. Thus, it is high risk for passengers and people who are outside the car.
