Following Other Manufacturers, Ford Will Awaken Electrical Capri

JAKARTA - In recent times, many manufacturers have started to revive their respective iconic models powered by electricity. Like Renault, which will revive the 5th model and Lancia revive Stratos in the form of electric cars.

Ford is also rumored to be following another manufacturer reviving the latest version of Capri with electric power. Rumors of Capri's return have been going on during the last decade.

Reporting from Auto Express, Wednesday, March 29, this rumor was reinforced by Ford saying it would release an iconic electric car.

"We don't want to comment on future products. However, we are on a mission to make an electric-powered iconic car," Ford said as quoted by Auto Express, Wednesday, March 29.

This was added by a statement from Ford design manager Jordan Demkiw. He said that his party would expand in Ford's iconic car returns.

"We will expand in making iconic models," he said.

Rumors also circulated that Capri will be one of the mainstays in Ford's line with Puma which will be electrified in the next few years. With this, the two models will follow the Kuga, Explorer, Mustang, Bronco, Raptor, and Transit.

Although it will be raised, it is possible that the latest generation of Capri will not carry a coup style, but an SUV-coupe whose technology will be the same as Ford's newest electric car, Explorer.

This means that the latest Ford Capri will be based on Volkswagen's MEB platform. This is part of a deal between Ford and VW as a platform supplier for the Explorer, Ranger, and Amarok models.

Although it will use technology from Explorer, Capri in terms of appearance will look different. The car will be displayed the front is slimmer and will be embedded with the quad Capri lights inspired in the 80s, with LED lights.

Another interesting thing that will appear in the Capri model is powertrain. This car is estimated to have a power of 330 dk with a four-wheel drive system (4WD) and an 82 kWh battery that can produce a distance of up to 482 km.

The latest Ford Capri will offer fast charging of up to 170 kW and charging from 10-80 percent only takes 25 minutes.

Ford Capri is one of the iconic cars ever produced by the US manufacturer. The model was produced from 1969 to 1986 in the form of a coup.
