Holding The Mandate Of Bung Karno, Ganjar Pranowo Rejects The Israeli National Team To Appear In Indonesia At The 2023 U-20 World Cup
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo refused the Israeli national team to appear in Indonesia at the U-20 223 World Cup. This rejection attitude is a form of realizing a joint commitment to the Palestinian independence effort.
According to Ganjar, this is in accordance with the mandate of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno. Ganjar said, as a cadre of the PDI-P, he upholds Bung Karno's mandate to continue to support Palestinian independence.
"We already know how Bung Karno's commitment to Palestine, both voiced at the Asia Africa Conference, Non-Aligned Movement, and at the Conference of the New Emerging Forces. So yes, we follow his mandate," said Ganjar in a written statement, Thursday, March 23.
Ganjar also admitted that he continued to observe violent acts that tended to increase in Palestine. He observed the emergence of political groups in the Israeli government who refused to recognize the existence of an independent Palestinian nation and state.
"Therefore, it is important for us to continue to voice our support for the struggle of the independent Palestinians," he said.
Ganjar asked the committee together with related parties to seek breakthrough steps so that the 2023 U-20 World Cup would continue without the presence of the Israeli national team in Indonesia. He has also communicated with PSSI and related ministers to discuss this matter.
"I hope that joint breakthrough steps are sought, without the presence of Israel," he said.
According to him, the implementation of the U-20 World Cup can still run without sacrificing the commitment of the nation's founders in realizing Palestinian independence.
"So that the U-20 World Cup can be held without sacrificing our long commitment to realizing Palestine's independence. As well as maintaining social-political peace in Indonesia," he said.
