Tibet Continues To Be Provoked, Beijing Believes The US Will Repeat Failure In The 1960s
JAKARTA - Chinese authorities urge the United States to no longer use issues related to Tibet. Especially to intervene in China's domestic affairs and disrupt its national interests and stop supporting Tibet's independence activities.
"If the US continues to carry out provocations through issues related to Tibet, then they will suffer even greater failures than 60 years ago," Chinese Foreign Ministry (MFA) spokesman Wang Wenbin said in Beijing on Wednesday.
According to him, Tibetan issues are not related to ethnicity, religion, or human rights issues.
"The issue of Tibet focuses on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity issues," he said in response to a statement about the latest intelligence reports released by the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding aid against Tibet's escape.
Wang accused the US of political manipulation by using US issues on the pretext of human rights.
"They have formed the so-called Special Coordinator for the Tibet Problem to spread false information, act negatively related to Tibet, provide large amounts of funding to the Dalai Lama group, and provide space for 'Tianese independence' activity," he said at a regular press briefing.
This, he continued, shows that the US has never given up on using issues related to Tibet to interfere in China's domestic affairs.
Over the 1960s, the CIA provided $1.7 million in funds per year for the Tibetan exile movement, including an annual subsidy of $180,000 to the Dalai Lama, US intelligence documents.
