The Situation Of The Tottenham Hotspur Dressing Room, Conte 'Attacks' The Players Himself: Selfish And Unresponsible
JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur's dressing room heated up after the match against Southampton in the English Premier League last weekend.
In that match, Tottenham were actually 3-1 up until the game was 15 minutes remaining. However, the win was broken after Southampton scored twice and equalized to 3-3.
After the game, Antonio Conte was furious. The Tottenham manager then blamed his own players for throwing away a two-goal lead.
The 53-year-old took the star's capacity by surprise. He told BBC Sport, "I'm really upset because this isn't the first time."
"I thought today I could tell you that it was a disappointment because we won 3-1 and the remaining 15 minutes and I think you should win with that condition," he said again.
Conte said things started to improve last season but then his team lost character. He didn't want to talk about the technical aspects, because according to him the team's lost spirit.
"We are not a team. We are a team that everyone thinks about themselves," said the former Inter Milan and Juventus coach.
"When you're like this, it can happen, you lose against Sheffield United and are eliminated from the FA Cup and lost to AC Milan. I don't see the players' responsibility," he said.
Conte added that he had seen the negative situation in the team. He also revealed that there were a lot of stragglers in the team and openly said there were players he didn't like.
"I am very frustrated about this because my staff and I stay every day thinking about ways to improve our achievements. To be honest, this is the time for me to take responsibility for myself, the staff, the club and also the players," Conte said.
"The players enter the field, I am the coach, okay I am responsible, the players must also take responsibility," he continued.
