Trump Did Not Report A Gift From The Ssing Government Worth IDR 4.6 Billion
JAKARTA - Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump and his family did not report foreign government gifts worth nearly 300 thousand US dollars (approximately IDR 4.6 billion) during their tenure, according to a report by the Democrats to the House of Representatives Supervisory Commission released on Friday.
More than 100 foreign government gifts were not reported, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other foreign government officials.
Former president Trump and his family received 117 unreported foreign government gifts, which were rated roughly US$291,000 (around Rp. 4.4 billion).
Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, her son-in-law Jared Kushner and their children are also on the list of recipients of a number of foreign government gifts.
The discovery of this unreported foreign government gift raises questions about why former president Trump could not publicly disclose these gifts, according to a legal order, the report said.
The Overseas Awards and Jewelry Act prohibits presidents and federal officials from keeping private gifts from foreign governments worth more than a "minimum value" with the current amount, amounting to USD 415 (approximately IDR 6.3 million).
Prizes that pass a minimum value that must be disclosed openly and submitted to the National Archives.
