Tips On Regulatory Eating Patterns When Fasting So That Health Is Maintained
JAKARTA - Muslims need to regulate their diet during fasting in the month of Ramadan in order to benefit from fasting. Clinical Nutrition Specialist Dr Marya Haryono, MGzi, SpGK, FINEM confirmed that fasting has many advantages.
The doctor who completed his clinical Nutrition specialist education at the Indonesian university said that many research shows that fasting has good health benefits. However, there are habits in Indonesia that can damage these benefits, such as foods that are not good for health that often appear during the fasting month and are very easy to obtain.
He suggests restraining the temptation of eating unhealthy foods to stay fit in fasting and recommends continuing to eat foods with balanced nutrition.
"Don't be aware that sugar appears, maybe the opening food for breaking the fast tends to be needed for sweet foods to fill quickly but not in large quantities," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 15.
The doctor who is also practicing at the Bunda Menteng Hospital, Central Jakarta, reminded him to continue to limit the intake of sugar, salt and fat both in the fasting month and other normal days.
Because the intake of nutrients in the body during the fasting month is no different than outside the fasting month.
He said that what should be consumed to meet sugar needs in the body is complex carbohydrates, which can be in the form of rice, tubers or corn.
"What we say must be reduced is that it is like sugar, sugar palm, honey, including that which must be limited," said Marya.
Meanwhile, someone with special conditions or serious illness such as blood sugar, hypertension that is difficult to control or other clinical conditions can continue to observe Ramadan fasting under the doctor's monitoring, in order to keep getting benefits from fasting for health.
