Can't Move Immediately, Pertamina Boss: Plumpang Depot Saves 15 Percent Of National Fuel Stock
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati said that the expansion of the buffer zone at the Oil Fuel Terminal (TBBM) or Plumpang Depo is very urgent.
The reason, said Nicke, Pertamina could not immediately close or move the Plumpang Depo to PT Pelindo (Persero)'s land.
The reason is, it will affect the resilience of the national fuel supply. Given that Plumpang meets the needs of fuel for 19 districts/cities or 15 percent nationally.
"So to keep operating, fixing the buffer zone is important. Because we cannot close Plumpang TBBM right now, it can affect the resilience of the national supply," he said in a hearing with Commission VI of the DPR in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 14.
Nicke said that the development of land owned by PT Pelindo could not be carried out as quickly as the reverse of the palm. In fact, said Nicke, the land construction can only start at the earliest by the end of 2024 with a construction duration of 2-3 years.
"So, this new terminal can be finished 4 to 5 years. Therefore, it is very urgent to maintain Plumpang TBBM operations and security as well as the safety of local residents, so (expansion) buffer zones are very urgent," said Nicke.
In addition, Nicke also said that the expansion of the buffer zone was not only carried out in Plumpang TBBM, but also other TBBMs in big cities.
"This condition (expansion) is not only in Plumpang, but also in several areas, especially TBBM in big cities. The construction of buffer zones should not only stop in Plumpang," he explained.
However, Nicke admits that Pertamina cannot do it alone in expanding buffer zones.
Nicke said that his party needed the help of all relevant parties, including data from the local RT/RW for this purpose.
"We also ask for help from other parties, including Commission VI of the DPR, so that we can carry out the construction of buffer zones for the safety of residents and operational security of Pertamina," he said.
