Admin Groups On WhatsApp Will Have New Features To Manage Members
JAKARTA - WhatsApp is reportedly back working on a feature for the group, where the admin will have the ability to approve new members who want to join the group.
When activated, users will see messages in group chats that suggest new participants should seek approval from the admin before they can join the group even though they have a group invitation link.
In addition, the admin will also have the option to enable the feature per group, so it doesn't have to be activated for all group chats.
A new option for "Delayed Participants" will also be available in every group chat where the feature is enabled, where the admin can see everyone who has asked for access and then choose whether to approve or reject the request.
If the approval is not given, those who are rejected cannot be part of the group. The feature of agreeing to new group members is very useful for admins to control who joins groups or the public community with a large number of participants.
To find new settings, just open group settings and users will find an option that "Agrees to New Participants", then activate it.
Currently, this feature has not been officially launched by the company, only available in the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS and Android.
"The ability to let group admins decide how new participants can join the group using the admin approval system is available to some beta testers who installed the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolled out to more and more people over the coming days," said WABetaInfo, who reported the feature for the first time.
"Noted that this option may also be available to some users who are installing the latest WhatsApp updates for iOS 23.3.77 from the App Store as it is currently rolling out to people in stable app releases," he added.
As previously reported, WhatsApp is also reportedly testing the Expired Group feature. This feature functions to set the date of group chat expiration, and when that date is reached, they will be asked to remove the group.
Expired Group Features will appear in group settings. Users can choose from various expiration options such as one day, one week, or a special date. They can also remove pre-determined expiration if they change their mind to create
