Bharada Richard Totaling Protection By Police

JAKARTA - Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo stated that the police continued to provide protection to Bharada Richard Total, who is currently being held at the Salemba branch of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Rutan). This was said after the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) revoked the protection of Richard Total.

According to Dedi, the police have secured Richard Totaling since the initial investigation until the trial. Currently, Total Health Conditions are said to be very good.

"From the initial investigation, prosecution to trial, the Police have secured it. Until now, Total Health Conditions are very good," he said when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday, March 11, quoted by Antara.

LPSK then handed over Richard Total to the Salemba Police Criminal Investigation Unit as a follow-up to the decision to stop the protection of Richard. When the handover was made, Richard was in good health after receiving a medical examination from LPSK doctors and the Police Dokkes.

The handover was then enshrined in the Report of the Protectiond Delivery (RE) which was signed by the LPSK and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

Even though LPSK has stopped protecting Richard, the police still provide protection against him. The termination of protection was carried out after the communication of other parties that was not based on LPSK's approval, resulting in a violation of Article 30 paragraph (2) letter c of Law Number 13 of 2006 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims.

According to LPSK Spokesperson Rully Novian, the termination of the protection was followed by the withdrawal of security against RE. Furthermore, Richard Total security is the full responsibility of the Salemba Prison.

"The termination of the protection was followed by the withdrawal of security against RE. Furthermore, RE security was fully responsible for the Salemba Prison," Rully explained.
