KSP Strives For Mediation Between Policyholders And AJB Bumiputera Leaders
JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) will seek mediation between policyholders and the leadership of AJB Bumiputera 1912 regarding the issue of claim payment.
"They want to ask for certainty, whether 50 percent of delayed policy claims will still be paid if Bumiputera's financial condition is healthy," said the Expert at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Ngatoilah in a press release, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 10.
"We will discuss with related parties whether it is facilitated for dialogue," continued Ngatolahih.
On Wednesday (8/3), the Presidential Staff Office received an audience of seven Bumiputera policyholders at the Bina Graha Building, Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta. To the KSP team, they asked for facilitation to meet with the leadership of AJB Bumiputera 1912 because of the delay in payment of claims.
The coordinator of AJB Bumiputera policyholders Fien Magiri admitted that he and other policyholders had visited the Bumiputera office 10 times to question the certainty of payment of 50 percent of delayed policy claims.
However, these efforts also yielded no results because none of the Bumiputeras were willing to meet.
"Our hope is that KSP can see this problem, and we hope that the end will be at KSP," said Fien. According to KSP's statement, AJB Bumiputera 1912 began disbursing delayed policy claim payments with a total claim of Rp22.34 billion related to 7,805 individual insurance policies.
Based on AJB Bumiputera 1912 press release on Monday 6 March, the delayed claim payment was made in accordance with the reduction in Benefit Values (PNM) and the availability of funds.
Claim payments are prioritized to policyholders who have a claim benefit value after PNM has a maximum amount of IDR 5 million, by one payment is paid in full.
Meanwhile, the value of claim benefits after PNM is more than IDR 5 million will be paid in two stages, namely 50 percent of the value of claims after PNM in 2023, and the next 50 percent of the settlement of claim value after PNM in 2024.
The disbursement of this claim is the first stage of implementing the Financial Restructuring Plan (RPK) which has been approved by the OJK, based on the articles of association and adjusted to the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK) in an effort to save policyholders.
