Learn From Madura United Doctor Marcelo Araujo Using Precious 12 Minutes To Rescue Ricki Ariansyah
JAKARTA – The safety of Madura United player Ricki Ariansyah after collapsing in the match against PSIS Semarang cannot be separated from the role of team doctor Marcelo Araujo.
The player who is familiarly called Rian fell and was unconscious after scoring the second goal to help Madura win 2-0 over PSIS in the continuation of the Indonesian League 1 at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday, March 7 yesterday.
The 25-year-old player fell to the ground and was unconscious in the added minutes of second-half time. The incident occurred right after he scored the second goal for Madura with a header.
Ricki seemed to be hit by an opposing player's kick right when he greeted his colleague's cross with a header. As a result of the kick, he immediately fell and the other players immediately realized that Ricki was unconscious.
Players who saw the incident and realized that bad risks could occur immediately called the medical team by waving their hands. One of the medical team is doctor Marcelo, a Brazilian national.
Thanks to the doctor's cold hands, Ricki's life was saved before being taken to St. Elisabeth Hospital Semarang. Moments after that, the club reported that Ricki had regained consciousness.
The quick action taken by Marcelo also received a lot of praise. This can be seen from the doctor's post on Instagram Story where he shows praise from various parties for his actions.
"Man of the Match," wrote Madura defender Otavio Dutra.
Madura United President, Achsanul Qosasi said, Marcelo used precious 12 minutes well.
"Thank you, God... Thank you Marcello. You have done the best for Ricky Ariansyah. 12 precious minutes and made us all worry.." he tweeted on his Twitter account.
After making sure that Ricki was saved, Marcelo was also seen holding back tears. He was seen crying while hugging one of the team staff before shaking hands with other staff.
"You came from Brazil to Indonesia to help advance our football. Thank you," wrote another Madurese player Beto Goncalves.
"Not just working as a physiotherapist in a big team, but precise and fast handling, calm, the right procedures determine the lives of players on the field. God job, Papa, Marcelo," wrote one account.
Apart from Marcelo, the name Reva Adi Utama also deserves praise. The first action taken by the Madura United defender contributed to saving Rian.
At that time, Reva swiftly opened her partner's mouth and tried to pull his tongue.
