DMI Prohibits Mosque Management From Giving Political Stage In 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) III of the Indonesian Mosque Council banned all mosque administrators from providing a stage for political figures ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous General Election (Pemilu).

"Mosque administrators are prohibited from providing a political platform for political figures in the 2024 elections," said DMI Deputy Chairman Komjen (Purn) Syafruddin as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 6.

In DMI's National Rapimnas III which took place at the DMI Head Office on Matraman Street, Jakarta, Monday and Tuesday (7/3), Syafruddin said that there was a recommendation to hold congresses in stages according to the statutes and bylaws (AD ART).

This recommendation is a direct mandate from the General Chairperson (Ketum) of DMI Jusuf Kalla who gave a direct mandate to Syafruddin to hold congresses in stages according to AD/ART.

"The chairman of DMI Jusuf Kalla gave the mandate to carry out the congress in stages according to the AD/ART," added the former deputy chief of the Indonesian National Police.

Then, DMI gave a mandate to the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan to serve as Chair of the DMI Expert Council. Syafruddin had visited Budi Gunawan's residence to inquire about his willingness to become chairman of the DMI expert council.

"Appointed Head of the State Intelligence Agency Budi Gunawan as Chairman of the DMI Expert Council," he said.

The DMI Rapimnas III agenda includes reporting on the progress of the results of their respective assignments as well as making recommendations. The DMI Rapimnas will also discuss consolidating the DMI rules of conduct and organizing the VIII DMI Congress.
