In Silu Kupang Village, There Are 125 Stunted Children
KUPANG - The regent of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), Korinus Masneno, said there were 125 children in the Silu Village of the local district experiencing stunting (failure to thrive).
"Silu Village, Fatuleu District is the village with the highest number of stunted children under five in Kupang Regency, so this village has become the focus of the government's serious attention in dealing with child stunting", said Kupang Regent Korinus Masneno as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 6.
According to him, Silu Village is one of the villages that has a fairly high number of stunted children under five, out of 567 children, 125 are stunted.
The Kupang Regency Government will certainly continue to work hard in suppressing stunting cases, so that the figure can go down, from 24 per cent to 19 per cent.
"We hope that the number of children experiencing stunting in Silu Village can decrease again because our target in the 2024 RPJMD is the remaining 9.3 per cent of children experiencing stunting in Kupang Regency", said Regent Korinus.
The high number of cases of stunting in the village made the Kupang Regency Government designate Silu Village as an example village in the foster parents' movement concerned with stunting.
According to him, it is the policy of the Kupang Regency Government to implement the foster parent movement for children who experience stunting consisting of all government officials, banks and the TNI/Polri.

Regent Korinus Masneno also appreciated the Provincial Government of NTT for being willing to become a foster father for 12 children from Silu Village who were experiencing stunting.
"Thank you to the NTT Provincial Government for agreeing to assign 12 children who are experiencing stunting to receive special assistance from foster parents", said the Regent of Korinus.
Korinus Masneno said that the presence of foster parents does not shift the role of parents of children who are experiencing stunting so the parents of children should be present as a family.
