Communication Is Still Disconnected, The SAR Team Has Difficulty Reporting Flood Development In Natuna

NATUNA - Basarnas through the Search and Rescue Office (SAR Office) admitted that it was still difficult to provide reports on the development of floods and landslides that hit Serasan and East Serasan Districts, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).

"The Natuna SAR Office has deployed members on duty at the Serasan SAR Alert Unit (USS) to anticipate disasters in flood-prone and landslide locations," said Head of the Natuna SAR Office, Abdul Rahman, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 6.

He conveyed that currently monitoring and standby SAR is being carried out, but coordination is difficult due to the interruption of communication networks in the area.

Due to this condition, his party has not been able to convey the latest developments on landslides and floods that occurred in the area until Monday afternoon.

But previously, the USS Serasan Team Commander, Dian Purwito, said monitoring of the location of the flood and landslide points in Serasan had been carried out together with the TNI and Polri.

"A team of five people using field motorbikes, currently moving towards flood-prone locations and landslides," said Dian.

The locations that are the focus of monitoring include Pangkalan, Air Sekain, Air Raya, and Arum Ayam Villages as well as Air Nusa Village, which is currently experiencing a Landslide disaster.

To note, floods and landslides occurred from last Saturday to Monday in several places in the Serasan and Serasan Timur Districts.

Furthermore, the Natuna SAR Office continues to coordinate with related parties regarding the landslide that occurred on Serasan Island.

Meanwhile, a report from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Natuna Regency stated that at least four villages were affected by floods, one house was damaged by floods, two houses were hit by landslides and one village had a landslide, which is still collecting data related to the impact of the disaster.
