The Plumpang Depo Fire Is Already Completed But 8 Residents Are Declared Still Missing
Eight people were still declared missing after the oil fuel pipeline fire incident that occurred in Depo Plumpang, North Jakarta, Friday evening, March 3. Head of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) North Jakarta Rizal said the location of the fire incident was a densely populated settlement that could potentially cause quite a lot of casualties. "This fire incident resulted in the burning of a residential area on Jalan Tanah Merah Bawah, RT 12 RW 09, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District," Rizal said in Jakarta, Saturday, March 4.
The fire occurred at 20.16 WIB, on Friday (3/3). The flames soared high and made the sky around the scene dark because it was covered in black smoke.
Residents run to save themselves in various safe places, including the North Jakarta PMI headquarters which is not far from their settlements. The number of residents who fled to PMI North Jakarta headquarters reached 338 people. They are also spread over a number of posts, including RPTRA Rasela as many as 256 people, the Office of Manpower as many as 74 people, the Rawa Badak Selatan Village Office as many as 65 people, to several mosques around the scene. In addition to causing eight people to still be declared missing, the fuel pipe fire also killed 13 people and 49 people were burned.
The victims who died were at the Police Hospital, while the victims of the burns were in a number of hospitals, including the Port Hospital, Tugu Koja Hospital, Mulyasari Hospital, and Koja Hospital. Currently, the atmosphere of the settlement is being monitored to be conducive. At 03.30 WIB, firefighters left the location indicating that the fire had been extinguished. Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said that her party would immediately conduct a thorough evaluation so that the incident of the fire at the company's fuel oil facility would no longer be repeated in the future.
