KPK: Leaders Must Protect, Not Morotin The People
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminds every political party to uphold anti-corruption values. They must uphold anti-corruption values so that cadres who are elected to sit at the legislative and executive levels can carry out the people's mandate."These leaders must protect, fulfill expectations, and not deviate from the people," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron in a written statement, Friday, March 3.Ghufron then revealed data as of December 2022 that there were 343 members of the council, both DPR or DPRD, 43 Governors, and 155 mayors and regents who had become KPK patients. He hopes this list does not increase. The trick, said Ghufron, is that political parties must carry out governance that is free from corrupt practices. So, when certain party cadres take office, no one abuses their authority anymore."The role of political parties is very strategic because it becomes a vehicle for those who want to get positions," he said."It is fitting for political parties as one of the important instruments in the life of democracy in Indonesia to give birth to cadres of candidate leaders who uphold integrity in them," continued Ghufron. It doesn't stop there, political parties must carry out clean governance because their cadres will later make public policies. If corruption occurs, the community will be able to have an impact."Poor policies will certainly affect the lives of many people," he concluded.
