52 'Wara Wiri Suroboyo' Feeder Transportations Start To Operate

SURABAYA - As many as 52 official feeder units named "Wara Wiri Suroboyo" began operating in the city of Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday (2/3).

"Thank God, the feeder to reduce congestion has finally been realized," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi when inaugurating 52 feeder transport units reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 2.

According to him, the provision of public transportation can reach areas that have not been served by the Suroboyo Bus or the Trans Semanggi Surabaya Bus.

The five routes that the feeder transport passes include Benowo Terminal - Tunjungan, Puspa Raya - HR Muhammad, SWK Penjaringan Sari - Gunung Anyar, PNR Mayjend Sungkono - Embong Wungu, and Joyoboyo Intermodal Terminal - Bratang Terminal - Kedung Asem.

Payment for feeder transportation uses a non-cash payment system, namely through electronic cards and QRIS.

"Later, God willing, it will increase to 7 routes," said Cak Eri, his nickname.

In fact, he continued, currently, the Surabaya City Government is coordinating further with the East Java Province Transportation Service to connect feeder transport with Surabaya's supporting cities. Like, Sidoarjo Regency and Gresik Regency.

"Great Surabaya will be crowded, when in the morning people enter Surabaya, in the afternoon the direction of leaving Surabaya is also congested. So that's what we will connect and Insya Allah with the Head of the Department of Transportation of East Java, there will also be a connection with feeders and Surabaya Buses, with the hope that this can be an alternative to reduce congestion in the city of Surabaya," he said.

As for the plan to add two feeder travel routes, Mayor Eri admitted that this is being studied by the Surabaya Transportation Agency and Commission C for the Development Sector of the Surabaya City Council.

"We are still counting this because earlier we discussed it in the (feeder) areas and whether there were more people or not," he said.

Cak Eri explained, the average distance between feeder transportation in the city of Surabaya is 10-15 minutes. So, he said, his party will continue to intensify the socialization of feeder transportation. To make the socialization successful, the feeder transportation service will be free of charge for one week.
