The Ministry Of PUPR Has Completed The Development Of The Mount Semeru Eruption Infrastructure In East Java
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the handling of the impact of the eruption of Mount Semeru that occurred in Lumajang Regency, East Java, in 2021.
The budget allocated for handling reached Rp770 billion, including the construction of special houses equipped with basic residential infrastructure, such as drainage, drinking water, sanitation and bridges, as well as the construction of the Besuk Koboan bridge.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the handling of the emergency response to the Mount Semeru eruption was carried out on the orders of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to assist disaster victims and take steps to handle the short and long term, including carrying out reconstructions to the houses of the affected people.
"The government is building houses for people affected by the disaster not only to repair the damage, but also to expect new settlements that are resilient to disasters, so that people feel safe and comfortable," Minister Basuki said in a press statement, Tuesday, February 28.
Through the Java IV Housing Provision Implementation Center (BP2P) of the Directorate General of Housing, the Ministry of PUPR has built 1,951 Hhusus type 36 houses with a budget allocation of Rp350.55 billion.
The work has been carried out by PT Brantas Abipraya and PT Hutama Karya since January 2022 and has been inhabited by the community in Eid al-Fitr 2022. The beneficiaries came from seven villages in Lumajang Regency, including Sumbersari Village, North Kebondeli Village, South Kebondeli Village, Curah Koboan Village, Gumukmas Village, Kamkajang Village, and Kajar Kuning Village.
The Director General of Housing, Iwan Suprijanto, said that the special housing house (huntap) was built measuring 6x6 meters on a land area of 10x14 meters for each Head of the Family (KK) and merged with temporary housing (huntara).
"Desain dan spesain teknis huntap ini menggunakan konsep build back better dengan teknologi rumah tahan gempa yang dibangun dengan metode RISHA (Rumah Instan Simple Sehat). Seluruhnya menggunakan produk dalam negeri," ujar Iwan.
In addition to building a special house, the Ministry of PUPR through the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements also complements housing with a number of basic housing infrastructure facilities to increase comfort, including drainage, drinking water, sanitation and bridges, with a total area of 81.55 Ha.
"For drinking water installations, there are reservoirs with a capacity of 300 m3, distribution network pipes with a length of 5,280 meters, two Broncapture units, as well as crossings and accessories to connect Home Channels with 1,951 SR. The total drinking water supply capacity is 25 liters/second for 2,000 families sourced from Tunggeng River with a discharge of 10 liters/second, Pitik River 5 liters/second (gravity), and Bamboo Forests with a discharge of 10 litets/second at a cost of Rp. 17 billion," added Iwan.
Meanwhile, the sanitation infrastructure was built by the Wastewater Management Installation (IPAL) with a capacity of 80-500 families and an Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) with a capacity of 2000 families, with a total development budget of IDR 57.5 billion.
Huntap is also equipped with public facilities and social facilities (fasum social facilities) to accommodate daily community activities, such as mosques, schools, sports facilities, fields, green open spaces (RTH), and markets.
Then, through the Center for the Implementation of the East Java-Bali National Road (BBPJN), the Directorate General of Highways, the Ministry of PUPR is completing the construction of the Besuk Koboan Bridge which previously collapsed due to the collapse of volcanic material during the eruption of Mount Semeru.
The collapse of the Besuk Koboan Bridge resulted in the disconnection of connectivity connecting Lumajang-Turen-Malang. The replacement bridge was built 140 meters long with a contract value of Rp160 billion and was carried out by PT Adhi Karya (Persero) as a contractor and PT Virama Karya (Persero) as a consultant. Currently, the physical progress has reached 97.1 percent and is targeted to be completed by the end of February 2023.
