Sad News, The Chairman Of The MUI 1990-2000 Dies, Imposed Today At The Tanah Kusir TPU

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) announced the sad news, namely the death of the General Chairperson of the 1990-2000 Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Prof. KH Ali Yafie at the age of 96 on Saturday night, at 22.13 WIB. The figure who also served as Rais Aam, the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama 1991-1992, died after undergoing treatment at a hospital in South Tangerang.

The body of the deceased will be taken to the funeral home at the Menteng Residence Complex, Jalan Menteng V Blok FC 5 No 12, Sector 7 Bintaro Jaya.

The deceased was buried today, Sunday, February 26 after the Dzuhur prayer at the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, South Jakarta.

Quoted from Antara, Sunday, February 26, the late KH Ali Yafie was treated on Monday, February 13, due to lung and heart disorders. However, after being treated for several days, Kiai Ali Yafie's condition was reported to have improved when he was visited by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chairman of the MUI Advisory Council, Prof. KH Ma ruf Amin, Thursday, February 16.

The vice president said that Kiai Ali Yafie was a senior cleric who became his role model. "He is my good senior," added the vice president.

KH Ali Yafie was born in Donggala, Central Sulawesi, on September 1, 1926. He is a fiqh scholar and has served as President of PBNU in 1991-1992.

At the NU Summit in Krapyak in 1989, he was elected as vice president of PBNU KH Achmad Shiddiq.

However, when Kiai Achmad Shiddiq died in 1991, KH Ali Yafie then acted to carry out his duties, responsibilities, rights, and authorities as Acting (Pj) Rais Aam until 1992.

Kiai Ali Yafie has also carried out the mandate as Management of Darul Da'wah Al-Irsyad, Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi which he founded in 1947.
