Overstay Staying, Dumai Riau Immigration Deports Malaysians Using Feri

RIAU - Dumai Immigration deported a foreign national (WNA) from Malaysia with the initials MA (28) who was proven to have violated the overstay residence permit. MA was deported using the MV ferry. Indomal Kingdom on the Dumai-Melawa route on Wednesday, February 22 morning.

"Before deporting this Malaysian citizen, we had carried out an inspection and detained the Supreme Court when he came using the Indomal Sovereign embarkation to Dumai on February 20, 2023 at around 11.10 WIB," said Head of Immigration Office Class I TPI Dumai, Rejeki Putera Ginting in Pekanbaru, Raiau, Friday, February 24, confiscated by Antara.

He said that during the inspection at the immigration office, it was found that the person concerned had entered Indonesia on May 18, 2022, but no exit stamp was found.

"As gatekeepers at the border of Indonesian territory, of course, we are always committed to carrying out our duties and functions as much as possible, including checking documents for entry and exit of foreign nationals. In every administrative violation that occurs, we always follow up according to applicable regulations," he said.

He explained that the examination of the Supreme Court which was continued in the office room resulted in the result that the person concerned was indicated to have overstayed or exceeded the length of stay. and once left Indonesia via Dumai Port to Melaka on November 14, 2022 without passing immigration checks.

Previously, on February 3, 2023, Kanim Dumai had also deported one Malaysian foreigner with the initials MSR (18).

MSR was deported to its home country using an emergency certificate/excessive treatment of Malaysia's state issued by the Malaysian Consulate Pekanbaru, according to procedures.

"This Malaysian citizen is also overstaying or the residence permit has passed the set time limit, so we also return the person concerned to his country," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Riau Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Mhd Jahari Sitepu, appealed to all immigration levels to be more thorough and vigilant in examining immigration documents, in connection with the relaxation of COVID-19 regulations and the high need for people to travel internationally.

"The number of passport applications has recently been quite high as evidence that public interest in traveling internationally is getting higher. More and more human traffic must be accompanied by maximum vigilance. Don't forget to improve coordination and synergy with related ministries/agencies so that the security and order of the Republic of Indonesia is maintained," he said.
